Creating Accessible Curriculum with Universal Design for Learning Framework
Physical Education/Health, Special Needs, Equity | Pre-K-12

Movement and motor learning are foundational elements of any child’s physical education. But how do you design a PE curriculum that’s equally accessible to all students, regardless of disability? The answer lies in Universal Design for Learning.
In this course, you will get the tools and confidence you need to create a fully immersive physical education classroom. Using Universal Design for Learning concepts, you’ll learn how to create accessible curriculum, what questions to ask yourself when lesson planning, and how to modify lessons to remove barriers and provide proper supports. In addition, you will explore how best practices for motor learning naturally align with an inclusive and accessible PE curriculum, as well as with multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression.
With the systems and strategies from this course, you will be able to create a classroom environment and curriculum tailored to engage and challenge students of all abilities.
